Students study skin anatomy, physiology, and healthful skin treatments in depth. Topics include essential oils, dry brushing, scalp massage, exfoliation, mud, and hydrotherapy treatments. Prerequisites: CMT program enrollment, CMT, or permission

Sports Massage Certification Program - 80 Hours

The sports massage program provides the knowledge and skill needed to apply massage therapy to the world of sports. Students learn to work with athletes in training and in competitive events. Students focus on helping athletes to remain injury free during training or competition. They learn to speed recovery in the event of an injury. Performance enhancement is explored for a variety of sports. Prerequisites: CMT program enrollment, CMT, or permission

Thai Massage Certification Program - 66 Hours

Thai Massage, originally from India, integrates massage, stretching, acupressure, and energy work. Thai Massage is done with clients who are fully clothed on a futon, similar to shiatsu. Our Thai Massage program prepares students with the theory and techniques of traditional Thai Massage. The program is the longest and only certification of its kind in the United States. Prerequisites: CMT program enrollment, CMT, or permission

Reflexology Certification Program - 222 Hours

This in-depth reflexology program provides all the theory, skill, and experience required as a preparation for national reflexology certification. Students learn reflexology for relaxation, self care, stress reduction, pathologies, posture and movement, and mindbody applications. No prerequisites

Ortho-Bionomy® Certification Program: Classes

Introduction to Ortho-Bionomy®

Phase 4: (Includes Spine and Shoulders & Advanced Spine)

In this 3 day format we will discover a simple & natural way to release tension & pain with comfortable positioning & movement. Techniques will be presented to access the body's innate, self-correcting reflexes to bring a sense of freedom & ease to the body. No previous bodywork experience is required. Suitable for both the veteran & beginner.

Phase 4: Extremeties

A detailed study of positions that facilitate release in extremeties, including knees, ankles, feet, elbows, wrists, and hands, as well as a simplified way to address the shoulders. You will experience how releases in extremeties affect the entire body. Additional review and discussion of Ortho-Bionomy® philosophy and principles.

Phase 4: Spine and Shoulders

This is an overview of basic physical release techniques of the spine, pelvis, and shoulder, which stimulate the inherent, self-correction reflexes of the body. These techniques relieve musculoskeletal tension and stress allowing structural alignment and comfort to occur. The work is gentle, effective and creates balance without adding additional trauma or pain to the areas. The history and unique philosophy of Ortho-Bionomy will be addressed and discussed. Techniques will be taught with ample time for discussion and one on one practice. No prior bodywork is required.

Phase 4: Advanced Spine

In this class, you will observe and practice specific techniques for releasing imblances of the bones and muscle of the spine and pelvis. You will also learn techniques for working with the spines of people with scoliosis and those who have undergone spinal fusions. These techniques will result in the release of pain and neuromuscular tension patterns and promote an expanded range of motion, increase circulation and a greater sense of well being.

Phase 5 Reflexes:

This class will work directly with the person's ability to respond. This class is an opportunity to explore the following reflexes of the body: rebound/recoil, on going action, follow-on response and remembered emotional response.

Phase 5: Students learn techniques to support & enhance self-corrective movements initiated by the the client. By learning to sense, & support these subtle movement patterns, muscle tension is released, joint flexibility is increased, & pain is reduced.

Phase 6: Students learn to aid in energetic shifts & how those shifts can affect changes in physical "holding" patterns. Students observe & work with relationships between energetic, physical, & emotional levels. (prerequisites: 16 hours of phase 4, or teacher permission)

Isometrics and Isotonics:

Students study how to facilitate the client using her/his own body (neurology, energy, and strength) to tone, strengthen, release, and balance muscle systems, and to improve range of motion. Greater awareness of patterns of tensing, holding, releasing, and movement is also achieved. Students learn exercises for the spine and limbs, using the client/facilitator dynamics, and integrating techniques with other Ortho-Bionomy practices.

Chapman's Reflexes:

This class will emphasize the importance of using Chapman's Neurolymphatic Reflexes for organ balancing and lymphatic drainage, as well as their influence on the endocrine system and emotional balance. Topics covered include: Point identification, releasing reflex points using Ortho-Bionomy, Balancing the endocrine system by combining Chapman's Reflex work with structural pelvic work, Using reflex points to address carpal tunnel syndrome, Balancing internal organs as an aid in addressing structural symptoms and having clients stimulate reflex points as a self-care technique. (prerequisites: 16 hours of phase 4 or 8 hours of phase 4 & Isometrics and Isotonics or teacher permission)

Posture and Post-Techniques:

In this class we focus on the interrelationship of structure and soft tissue that we call posture - the expression of our life experience and the ways we use our bodies. By learning about the natural curves of the spine that give spring and flexibility and perceiving larger patterns of the spine, torso, and extremities related to sitting, standing, and walking, we can see smaller or seemingly unconnected patterns in a new light and work with them in a bigger context. We learn to recognize that each posture has its own balance.

The client and practitioner work together to access and support what works best for the client's ease of function. In addition to release techniques, the class includes gentle movements (post-techniques) that can be used in a session or as self-work to integrate and support structural balance.

Practitioner Training Seminar:

Ortho-Bionomy® is about relationship and communication with our clients. This process impacts the entire "conversation" from first point of contact to closure of the session. The quality of rapport developed during the interview has a deep effect on your overall work. All students are asked to bring a class question related to the client/practitioner relationship and other challenging aspects of their practice.

Demo Skills:

The art of communicating about Ortho-Bionomy®. Learn to communicate to a group or an individual in your own words, accurately and confidently. Also, simple neurological exercises to help overcome fears associated with public speaking.

Exploration of Movement:

Learn the basic skills for understanding movement and various patterns of movement such as rhythms, timing, and range of movement, and how to approach the exploration process non-judgementally and with curiosity and lack of expectations.

Advanced Thorax: Students learn the theory and anatomy for the thoracic region. Releases are learned for the thoracic area.

Advanced Pelvis & Organ: Theory & overview of the physical releases for the pelvis and the organs. Students learn hands-on releases for the pelvis and the organs.

Crainial: Apply the fundamental principles of Ortho-Bionomy to cranial work. Explore working with the cranium on a physical and energetic level. Included are working with diaphragm and sacral releases.

Ethics & Emotions: Recognizing trauma, trauma discharge, emotional response and how to avoid emotional re-traumatizing. Discussed are uses of boundaries, ways to change boundries, and the impact of boundaries between client and practitioner. The Ortho-Bionomy code of ethics will be reviewed and clarified.

Successful Practice: Students learn how to successfully organize and run their own small business and create a marketing flyer or brochure.

Anatomy & Physiology Self Study: (Info coming soon!)

Study Group: Study groups scheduled during the Ortho-Bionomy classes that provide the student the chance to review techniques, clarify principles and gain insight on specific client cases or situations.
